     The Uncreated Creator

  1. J. E. “Duke” Paulsen – ABØGS

            Creator.

A word that carries with it, power. A word that emulates ownership. A word that exudes Authority.

A creator is one that makes things and to make them function. A creator has to design, build and integrate all the created parts and make them all work together. When the created thing is made and working properly as intended, then the creator can then say, “I made this.”

In most cases, a single creation has a single creator. An artistic painter for example can create a single painting. A potter will make a vessel on his potter’s wheel. The same can apply to a jeweler building a ring, a carpenter building a house and so forth. When any of these artists and craftsmen is done with their work, each can say, “I made this.” If what they made has never been seen or made before, these same artists and craftsmen could then be called “creators.”

So where did these “creators” come from. Most likely these creators are (human) men and women who came from biological parents, who were born of their parents and so on. Keep backtracking of where all of these sets of parents came from and you will eventually narrow it all down to a single set of parents, one man and one woman. The linage stops at this point. Now, where did the first man and first woman come from?

             They were made.

If man and woman were made, who made them? Logic would dictate that for a thing to be made, there has to be a Maker. So who is the Maker of human life?

             God (Elohim).

                                                Let Us . . .

Before answering the question, “who made God?” let’s look first at who God is.

God[1] (Elohim) is a single entity made up of three distinct persons yet fully functional as a single unit. “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” 1 John 5:7 KJV   To say that that “…these three are one” would have to imply that there is absolute flawless co-operation of the three persons within the single entity. This entity also has a single name, “…baptizing them in the (single) name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” Matthew 28:19 KJV

Now let’s look at the three persons who make up this Entity, which most theologians call “The Triune God” or “The Triune Godhead.”

 God the Father:

Co-existent and co-eternal with the Word and Holy Ghost. Much like the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a large company, God the Father is the one who oversees all of Creation. In terms of authority, God the Father is the # 1 that all of Creation (including time itself) must answer to. God the Father works closely with the Word and the Holy Ghost.

The Holy Ghost (also called the Holy Spirit)

Co-Existent and co-eternal with God the Father and the Word. Probably the least known or mentioned of the Triune Godhead. Yet, the Holy Ghost plays the important roles of:

Purveyor: The means, which provides a communications link between the Triune Godhead, Creation itself, Man, angels & demons. Can also indwell (or immerse) man. See Acts 2:4 and Titus 3:5 KJV

Convictor: Not as a judge but rather to alert Man when sin or a wrong thing has occurred. See Acts 5:32-33, 7:51 KJV Also demonstrates Truth[2] to Man.

Comforter: When the soul of Man is troubled or unsettled, the Holy Ghost is one that brings assurance and calmness. See John 14:26, Romans 5:5, 2Cor 6:6 KJV

With few exceptions, the Holy Ghost generally works “behind the scenes.”

The Word (also called Jesus Christ Yeshua Ha'Mashiach)

Co-existent and co-eternal with God the Father and the Holy Ghost. The most important and focal point of the Triune Godhead. The Word is the one source of everything tangible (physical things, see John 1:3 and Colossians 1:16-17) and intangible[3] (knowledge, values, good, authority). Works closely with God the Father and Holy Ghost. The Word is the source of photonic (physical) light and spiritual light and life. “In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” John 1:4 KJV Also note Genesis 1:3-4 KJV, “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good:” I note this because other sources of light such as the sun, moon and stars were not created until the fourth day as described in Genesis 1:14-19 KJV.

                                The Linage Begins . . .

The second major decision in the Bible record is about Man. “And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness…So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him…And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.” Genesis 1:26-27, 2:7 KJV

Soon afterwards, God understands that man, soon called Adam, is getting lonely and decides, “it is not good that man should be alone; I will make a help meet for him…and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh thereof…made he a woman and brought her unto the man…and they shall be as one flesh.” Genesis 2:18, 21-22, 24 KJV

I should also point out that God himself brought the woman to the man, much like today’s “giving of the Bride to the Groom” in what would be the first marriage ceremony that it was pronounced, “and they shall be one flesh.”

Later on the man and woman, called Adam and Eve respectively, begin the practice of procreation that continues today.

                                     But Who Made . . ?

            . . . The Creator? A good question.

The good answer: The Creator wasn’t made, born or “appeared out of nowhere.” The Creator simply is, present tense[4]. This includes the (eternal) past, the present and (eternal) future. Through the prophet Isaiah, God explains Himself, “Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD (Adonai), and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.” Isaiah 43:10 KJV

Moses, who experienced direct conversation with God, explains how long God has been around, “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hast formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.” Psalms 90:2 KJV

But unlike Moses, who conversed and related to God, man(kind)’s logic would badly assume that God is limited by the same physical laws that govern space, time and matter. Not so. Even man’s puny logic suggests that the Creator (or maker) of a thing is greater than that which was created (made or crafted) even before the thing was made and has to be greater than the limits placed upon the thing created.

Allow me to quote Dr. Henry M. Morris[5] who gives insight to this question: “Such a God is an adequate uncaused First Cause to explain the existence of the universe; but nothing else is. By the universal scientific principal of cause-and-effect, the existence of personalities and moral values in the universe requires a Personal, Moral Being as their Cause. That’s God!

“…Not only did God create the universe of time, space and matter, he did it instantaneously, by His own omnipotence and spoken will. By the word of the LORD (Elohim) were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth…For He spake and it was done; and it stood fast.” Psalms 33:6,9 KJV

“…Note also God’s statement to the prophet Isaiah. “Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.” Isaiah 48:13 KJV There was no gradual evolution of the stars and galaxies, nor of the solar system and its planets. They all stood up together when God spoke them into being.

“…Not only were all things created by divine fiat, essentially instantaneously, they were also pronounced by God, after it was all completed, to be ‘very good.’ Genesis 1:31 KJV

                                           The Logic Stops . . .

From this point on-ward, one must now trust, believe and have faith, “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.” Titus 1:2 KJV

Earlier, I referred to the three persons of the Triune God; the Father, the Word and the Holy Ghost. Of these three, it’s the Word who was appointed by the Father[6] to be the Creator[7]. Notice now in John 1:1-2, the Word is present at the beginning as an individual, “In the beginning was the Word…” and present with the other two members of the Godhead, “…and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.” Again demonstrating the absolute harmony of the three working together as one Entity.

An event in Biblical and Egyptian history demonstrates the position given to the Word. Recorded in Genesis is the installment of Joseph in Pharaoh’s court. Pharaoh says to Joseph, “Thou shalt be over my house, and according to thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou…see, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.” Genesis 41:40-41 KJV   Notice here that Joseph has been given a totally free hand by Pharaoh to rule. Joseph now rules everything in Egypt, even Pharaoh’s own house and servants! Everything is now subject to Joseph except for the authority of the throne of Egypt itself in which Pharaoh sits and will have the “final word.”

The same is true with the Word, Jesus Christ (Yeshua Ha’Mashiach). Verses in the Gospel of John, 1 Corinthians 15 and Philippians show that Jesus Christ has been placed in the same kind of position within the Triune Godhead. In John 14:6, Jesus says, “…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” The Word is the sole point of access to the Father. In 1 Corinthians 15:24-25 and verses 27-28, Jesus (Yeshua) is delivering the Kingdom to the Father. One cannot “deliver” anything, including a kingdom, unless it was given to be delivered in the first place. In Philippians 2:9-11, the name of Jesus, given to the Word by God the Father, is the name that God the Father has held in the highest possible regard. “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:” Philippians 2:9 KJV   So high regard is this name held, all of Creation must bow at the name of Jesus. “That at the name of Jesus (Yeshua) every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in the earth, and things under the earth;” Philippians 2:10 KJV   Creation itself, including mankind, will come to the realization that the Word, called Jesus Christ (Yeshua Ha’Mashich), is truly the Lord[8] of all Creation, affirming the Word’s authority vested in him by God the Father. “And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ (Yeshau Ha’Mashich) is Lord, to the glory of the Father.” Philippians 2:11 KJV

                                                 When . . .

Earlier I mentioned that the creation of Man was the second most important decision made regarding Creation.   What about the most important decision made regarding Creation. Who made the decision? Why create Creation? Where did the Beginning take place?

All these questions and any more that Man can imagine simply don’t matter. This was a decision Man (who was created on the sixth day) had absolutely nothing to do with.

Until the Beginning, there was only God (Elohim). No thing or no one else had existed before the Beginning. No space, no time, no matter of any sort. Only God (Elohim)…that is until He said…

         “…LET THERE BE LIGHT…”
